Earth Day Greetings 2023

April 22 is a significant date in the history of Friends of Tandy Hills. Check out this bit of “cosmic convergence”:

> April 22, 1960 - Fort Worth City Council and Mayor Tom McCann agree to purchase the land now known as Tandy Hills Natural Area.
> April 22, 1970 - Earth Day is founded
> April 22, 2010 - Friends of Tandy Hills and City of Fort Worth, enter into a Support Agreement
> April, 2006 - 2015 - Tandy Hills Prairie Fest took place on or near, April 22, Earth Day
> April 22, 2016 - Tandy Hills BioBlitz commences
> April 22, 2020 - The Broadcast Hill purchase celebration was scheduled on that day but the pandemic forced a postponement

Earth Day and Tandy Hills share, not only a purpose in raising awareness and a call to arms but, also, a birthday.

With nearly 1900 species, sweeping prairie views and bottomland forest on 220+ acres and located five minutes from downtown Fort Worth, the price of $173,250 the city paid in 1960 was a steal.

Tandy Hills is truly a living laboratory that Friends of Tandy Hills help protect, restore and interpret with a number of outreach programs. You can enjoy science and nature in action at Tandy Hills on Earth Day and every other day, 24/7/365.

If you wish to make a donation in honor of Earth Day, you may do so here. We appreciate your support: https://www.tandyhills.org/donate
