> April 22, 1960 - Fort Worth City Council and Mayor Tom McCann agree to purchase the land now known as Tandy Hills Natural Area.
> April 22, 1970 - Earth Day is co-founded by, Senator Gaylord Nelson, of Wisconsin
> April 22, 2010 - Support Agreement signed between Friends of Tandy Hills and City of Fort Worth
> April 2006 - 2015 - Tandy Hills Prairie Fest took place on or near, April 22, Earth Day
> April 22, 2016 - Tandy Hills BioBlitz commences
> April 22, 2020 - Broadcast Hill purchase celebration was scheduled for April 22nd but the pandemic forced a postponement

Earth Day and Tandy Hills share, not only a purpose in raising awareness and a call to arms but, also, a birthday.

With more than 2,000 species, sweeping prairie views and bottomland forest on 220+ hilly acres and located five minutes from downtown Fort Worth, the price of $173,250 the city paid in 1960 was a steal.

FACT: A whopping 10% of all Americans participated in the first Earth Day in 1970. Below, are few photos and various posters from the first Earth Day.
