Fall Kids on the Prairie

On Thursday, October 8, 2015, Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area, celebrates 5 years of helping connect north Texas school children to the natural world via their award-winning outdoor education program, Kids on the Prairie.

More than 120 Meadowbrook Elementary School 4th graders will ride the bus to Tandy Hills for a science-based field investigation at their local prairie. They will be led by a group of volunteer Master Naturalists on a day of learning and fun at one of the largest remaining native prairies in north Texas, just minutes from downtown Fort Worth.

All expenses including, bus transport, STEAM standards field guides and lunch on the prairie are provided by Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area.

Kids on the Prairie partners with Fort Worth ISD, Cross Timers Master Naturalists, Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge and the City of Fort Worth Parks & Community Services Department. Our all-volunteer organization is supported by a generous grant from the FASH Foundation, proceeds from Prairie Fest and membership donations.
